Yaoi and you
Jun. 5th, 2005 02:17 pmRandom disscusion that popped up during IMing and OOC stuff. Being that I've never stated my own actual views on the matter I figured to take the time now.
I used to hate yaoi with a great passion. The whole idea behind it just disturbed me.. Though I later just learned to accept it. I could honestly care less about it.
In more recent times I have actually went more into this realm, just to see what the hell is was about that fangirls seemed so obsessed about. After several seeing it several times, I've realised that really could care less about it, and fail to see why so many love it O.o. Of course, you're talking to somebody who has no effect by guys people claim to be 'hot' and other pointless things around that.
Also I have noticed that overall generic stereotype of it. All it really is is the same damn thing, just replace different people and where it takes place, and walla, yaoi.. how creative and well thought of X.x
And yet it still saddens me how deeply topics like yaoi, yuri, and even hentai are and how damn common it is in the fanbase world. Probably 7/10 of the doujins you find have atleast one of these contents in it, which again, I think ruins it because it really just boils down to "hey, those two guys are hot, let's just make them make out in the most intense way ever just because and we are probably just sick perverts anyway."
Unless I find something that proves me wrong.... it can all just burn in a hole somewhere for all I care. I just stand neutral with it though.

Date: 2005-06-07 01:32 pm (UTC)Personally, I don’t enjoy yaoi but that also holds true for virtually any romance. I must admit that I would have preferred a story revolving around, let’s say, Nuriko and Hotohori more than the relationship with Miaka and Tamahome. [Although really, Fushigi Yuugi would have been best without any romance at all] The factor of the characters being the same sex does not bother me any, and that is essentially all yaoi is; male/male pairings as opposed to any other. Virtually any romance story has a feeble basis.
On the contrary, and note this is coming from someone else who fails to find the exterior of anyone as alluring, it is possible for me to deprive a bit of interest from yaoi given what the fundamental basis actually is. There is actually only one relationship in all of anime which I would have enjoyed happening, and it happens to involve two male characters whose personalities I believe would make a quite interesting blend. I don’t quite care that it did not occur, but I simply think it would have made the anime as a whole more detailed and amusing as within this specific case it relates to the background; thus actually affixing depth in their character when considering what would occur if they actually did form a relationship.
For what it’s worth, I do concur that the vast majority of yaoi pairings are based simply on appearance thus are feeble and poorly thought out as a whole.

Date: 2005-06-07 07:57 pm (UTC)It's not that I'm 'ignoring' you two, it's just that 1) I found other things I like to do in my free time, and 2) either that or I'm busy with IRL stuff (and on the other hand not, it's hard to explain O.o). San is usually talking about Therianthropy nearly more than half of the time. Which, honestly, I have very little knowledge about. I'm not saying it's bad that she does it, but I have just no relation to it. And you... well... erm, you write too much and I get lazy to read it all XD;. So if you think if it's because I suddenly 'hate' you, then no.

Date: 2005-06-08 01:36 pm (UTC)The FMA-relation is nothing quite new with you, as whenever you become quasi-obsessed with a specific anime/and or video game you begin acting a scintilla more like a certain character as well; due to your own personal family background this seems to have intensified in effect with FMA. When applying this to Al's association with cats it was deductible that you were appalled by me for that, which is actually all I meant by that.
I'm prone to lengthy messages; too used to having to explain myself. Mreh.
