'Wish Maker' Interest Check
Feb. 7th, 2026 06:26 pm
You notice a mysterious door on an otherwise normal day. Perhaps you were only just now aware of it, or maybe it had always been there waiting for you.
It is giving off something you haven’t felt in a very long time, but you can't quite explain what. Nostalgia, belonging, hope? As you try to figure out what it might be, you inevitably touch the handle to try to turn it.
You suddenly feel a sharp pain and clench your chest. The pain doesn't last for long, thankfully, but it was a concerning experience. As you let go, however, you realize that your hand was now holding a key.
It matches perfectly with the door's lock.
Do you dare open it?
'Wish Maker'(Not Finalized/Temporary) is meant to be a panfandom fantasy dwrpg that primarily focuses on wish fulfillment and personal growth, but may delve into other deeper individual themes. Using a somewhat sandbox setting and open-ended story.
Characters arrive to the world through a magical door using a key, a physical embodiment of all their hopes, desires, and ambitions. This world reacts to those who are particularly strong willed, those who seem capable of making their dreams come true. Should they enter the Reflection and manage to overcome it, they may gain the ability to temporarily reshape reality.
Supposedly an even greater power lies further within. One that can change anything in their own world, forever. If only they can reach it...
◆ A larger reliance on player-run events than one singular plot. Though some original content will probably show up.
◆ Character are allowed to travel back to their own world and this one as much as they want. So long as they remember where they left their door.
◆ Keeping roughly within a PG-13ish rating. Nothing too extreme but Reflections can be used to explore heavier psychological or existential themes.
◇ Not a smut game or expected to be smut-friendly. Lewd talk or mentions is still fine within reason.
Doors and Keys
Doors are known as Anchors in this world. Something that is metaphysically linked to the character and keeps them stabilized between their own world (the real world) and this one.For the most part there's no penalties for staying long term. There's no limitation on how often characters go back either. However, if at any point the character starts to feel reluctant about returning home, the Anchor can deteriorate. It happens slowly, but if it keeps happening then the Anchor could vanish; and they can never go back.
◆ In a character's world, the Anchors don't really look all that special. Probably something that blends in with the setting (although only that character can see it). Inside though, the design can change to something that better represents them.
◆ Characters cannot share or enter each other Anchors, even if they belong to the same world.
◆ It is possible for a character to move their Anchor to a different location if they focus hard enough. It always picks a random spot the first time entering.
◇ It's basically like your own save point.
◆ Anchors can recover slowly as soon as the character starts to feel like returning home again, but only if they stop it in time.
Keys
◆ Also highly customizable designs◆ Despite being directly created by wants, it is constantly being influenced by all the character's emotions and current emotional state. Making keys difficult to use correctly when interacting with specific things.
◇ Fears and doubts especially come up often. They are usually just as powerful and deeply connected.
◆ Quite possibly the strongest source of power in this world.
The World
The world is possibly called Reverie (not entirely sold yet). It seems to be a world that may not actually exist, or somewhere where reality and fiction are constantly intersecting in a vast 'ocean'.The actual landmass characters arrive on is quite small, only wide enough to fit a village that you might see in a fairytale. Except this one seems to have been abandoned and overgrown, a sky that never changes, and an almost sickly washed out color. Whoever used to inhabitant here may have left a long time ago.
There is actually one resident who currently lives here now, Barnabas. A strange anthropomorphic creature with a long tail who, for whatever reason, refurbished one of the structures to make a functional tavern and inn. Or as functional as it can be with the resources around.
Characters are allowed to stay in one of the rooms for free. Eating is not necessary here, but having food can sometimes help. If asked why he's doing all this he can't really explain why. His memory on a lot of things is pretty foggy. But supposedly it was very important and if he waited long enough, people would arrive.
◆ Barnabas is not actually sure whether he's technically real or not either, given the nature of everything else. He does not remember how or when he got here or anything before it.
◆ Is fully aware what the doors and keys are though, despite not having one or ever seeing them before.
The Reflection and Prisms
Surrounding the world on all sides is what looks like a wall of colorful swirling glass. Almost as though everything might be under a dome, or one gigantic aurora borealis. It is fairly safe to touch, and it doesn't seem to encroaching any closer, but it does react strongly to keys.Should someone press their key against it, they will be suddenly transported inside; and supposedly to a new hypothetical reality. A fantasy they may have had, a memory, or something else. The key and their wishes or fears could have warped it beyond recognition, or taken something else that already exists and reshaped it.
If a character can overcome whatever the Reflection throws them, be it something like facing their demons or not completely give into temptation, they will find their way out and might somehow acquire a shard. These shards, or Prisms, are basically a piece of the same rainbow-y glass and can do a variety of things.
Should enough characters enter the Reflection and successfully come out, the glass wall will actually recede and reveal more land. Seemingly restoring the world back, or if nothing else helping it grow.
◆ Reflections are basically this game's version of events (or other action/adventure/exploration type of stuff to do) and fall under as pretty much 'anything goes.' They include things such as:
◇ Revisiting memories (That may have gotten exaggerated)
◇ Nightmares/dreamscapes
◇ Possible future outcomes
◇ 'Storybook' style scenarios (The character appearing in a version of a well known fairytale/story, or some new inspiration of it)
◆ When a Reflection 'takes shape' inside, other characters are able to enter it too for a time. At least until whoever made it is able to resolve it.
Prisms
◆ A small shard of the Reflection that can do the same exact thing as Reflections, but just smaller scale. Like giving a character a new item, or ability, or whatever else they presumably 'want' at that moment.◇ Still needs the key to activate, so it might be a little unpredictable.
◇ It only works for a short time though.
◇ It cannot be taken back to their own world either. (The shard and/or whatever they created with it)
◆ Prisms can also be used on the world itself, and those are permanent effects. If they wanted to repair one of the buildings in the village (to setup their own store or a house to stay in), but don't want to go through the hassle of doing it manually, a Prism could mitigate most if not all the work.
◆ Prisms are a weaker, unpurified form of what characters need to have their wishes truly granted. Though it is still a complete mystery what is necessary to find it. Or maybe possibly create it.
Land Expansions
◆ These happen periodically as more events are completed and the game processes, just so things aren't quite as claustrophobic.◆ Prisms can also be used to terraform the land. Literally bringing in a piece of their home into the world.
◇ Though it may take multiple Prisms depending on how big.
◆ Land expansions are essentially a reward for everyone participating, as they are normally safer areas meant for socializing. While Reflections are meant for the bulk of drama and action, the rest is places to go to for a break.
Journals
Long distance communication isn't much of a thing here. But when characters first arrive, they might notice something else new with them. It's some kind of empty notebook; or journal, diary, notepad, whatever. If there's someone they want to talk long distance all they have to do is write in it, and the words will materialize into their journal too.
◆ Video and Audio doesn't work here. The most a visual a character can do is draw it, poorly or otherwise.
◆ Open posts are achieved somehow by broadcasting to everyone.
◆ No matter how many pages used it never seems to fill up.
Other Misc. Game Details
◆ No confirmed opening date yet, but hopefully Soon™
◆ Official game title is a work in progress
◆ Solo mod, so would like to keep things relatively low-key and chill.
◆ Will be some variation of a 'private game', but might not do the normal invite method.
◇ No arbitrary player limit either, it's only however many I can handle at a given time. Though I am expecting a small player cast.
◆ Activity Check: 10 tags for one character, 15+ 'account-wide' for multiple. (To keep it alt-friendly)
◆ Soft cap on the number of characters one player can play.
◆ I haven't actively modded a game since the dark ages of LJ, so a lot of this feels new again. But would like to try out different things from the usual dwrp formula.
➤ And that's about all for now. Questions/feedback/potential character ideas are encouraged. If the reception is well then I will work on getting an official account made, and some kind of TDM set up in the not-so distant future. /o/;
