Nameless DWRP, Draft 2: Electric Draftaloo

It's been over a month since the last post, a bit's changed and been more fleshed out since then (while simplified at the same time). At this point the game is starting to evolve more into an actual DWRP than a simple musebox with some DWRP elements. Though hopefully the workload stays relatively simple...I hope.

Game Deets (So Far)

Gods go into hibernation every millennia or so, every time they awaken they tend to wreck havoc on the mortal world (intentionally or no) and kick off a new dark age. The current generation of mortals are trying their best to prepare for this next round and keep their world mostly in tact. They're probably not the first ones to attempt it, but could be the first to succeed.
  • Despite the direness, the tone is intended to remain more so on the light/fun side (maybe even a dose of dark humor here or there). Some serious moments and implied things, but not much expected beyond a PG-13. Good classic jrpg ham and cheese
  • An emphasis on Adventuring, Mystery, and World Building. And Shenanigans. Quieter moments are obviously sprinkled in but the main focus isn't SoL
  • "Mortals" includes all things human and nonhuman (for all your playable character needs), humans may be the most common type though.
    • Really powerful mortals (Absurdly long lifespans, more magical power than is to be expected, some sort of legendary status) are exceptionally rare and sometimes classified as Demi-God. Little is known about them and many assume they don't actually exist. Are they actually connected to real gods somehow or is it just a coincidence? Do they disappear for years too? Nobody knows.
    • They're basically this world's version of cryptids and folk heroes. Sometimes stories passed around to either inspire or terrorize people. Doubtful if actually real. Yup.

  • Most of the game revolves around exploring/discovering past civilizations to learn as much as possible about them. Which can range from fantasy to futuristic, and players can go nuts basing their characters' background on. Ultimately they leave behind clues as to what sort of gods the world is facing against, and loads of other side plots.
  • Originally it was meant to be entirely open world sandbox style, but I know those make it really hard to orchestrate anything. So there likely will be some type of hub city, town, institution, or something that keeps all characters connected. I haven't decided on what yet (As there is simple ways to do it, but there is also plenty of overdone and cliché ways to do it)

OOC Game Deets

  • Still an AU Invite-Only game. Those outside from initial friendlist need to get a referral.
  • Allowed Characters: All fictional media, OCs, and fandom OCs
Disqualified Characters: Real world, online/celebrity personas, and CRAUs
  • The character max per player is Unlimited, but there is a soft cap of 1 per canon and 3 per series/franchise. (e.g. A numbered Final Fantasy title and its spinoffs would count as one canon, but Final Fantasy as a whole counts as a series.)
  • You can temporarily play extra characters from your canon though with an NPC app. In the case of player run events.
  • Originally AC was going to be a simple check-in, but now I'm considering doing the standard 5-10 tag comments. Except these are "account-wide" so to speak, not per character. Things like strikes, hiatuses, and emergency hiatuses are still existent too (and check-ins are likely to come around during holiday months).

And I think that is mostly it for now. The next post will probably just be expanding on these concepts even more. Maybe actually get some names and locations. And of course taking in any additional feedback. Still no date estimate.
