Episode review 6
Dec. 12th, 2004 07:04 pmTime for my weekly review on the FMA dub.
Ok I lied, Scar wasn't in 6. I forgot if he was or wasn't. The next one for sure since that's when Nina dies... Poor Nina =/.. Speaking of which though she sounded pretty good. The way a 4-6 year old probably would sound. I keep forgetting how old she is >.<..
Some of the scripting kinda bothered me in that ep though. Don't really remember the direct lines, but some were rather off. But again, cultural differences, language structure, yadda yadda. It's that what makes dubs evil.
It's strange, I'm starting to like Al's actor (Aaron) but hating Ed's (Vic). Gah, it's kinda irritating. I think Vic is making Ed sound a bit too cocky alot of the time. Which just annoys me because he didn't seem nearly as much when Paku was doing it. In fact, if I had only seen the dub I would probably hate Ed a whole lot more because of that >_>.
Also got to hear Tucker and Bradly(*coughpridecough*). Tucker kinda reminded me of one of those stereotypic wealthy English people living in some huge castle like a hermit (which is quasi-true actually XD). Dunno how he'll be once he gets turned into a chimera.. Since I doubt they are gonna make him sound all raspy like the Japanese one was (knowing the dubbers >_>). But I also can't imagine that voice coming out of some strange minotur(sp?) looking thing.. Also Bradly's didn't seem very fitting either.... *continues singing that "Nobody knows the chaos I'm causing" song*(so true and fitting, silly military people and not knowing what they're getting themselves into XP)
Let's see, so 7's primere will reveal Scar and Sheska(or rengew her name was spelled). Could have sworn there was someone else in 7.. hmm..
Also my Nippon Ichi is still growing, huzrah

Date: 2004-12-12 09:50 pm (UTC)I once read somewhere that apparantly Ed's choice of word politeness/vulgarity stuff were on the disrepectful side. But since the words mean the same thing, the attitude behind them doesn't convey completely even with voice tone. If true, maybe that's why they gave Ed more 'tude for the dub--since we don't have that same multi-leveled language stuff.
Yay for the subtleties and context usage that is the Japanese language!
