Date: 2007-07-05 04:47 am (UTC)Hm... although I DID see the first 4 eps back in the early spring time, if not last winter. (I would have watched it regular then, but I was still leeching anime off others due to slow slow slow computer and internet, and my friend was really random with the anime he shared and his lack of FINISHING sharing a series before showing off another. -_- So I forgot about it til summer.)
In another month my automail will be 3 years old for sure! And it still isn't a complete shambles! XD

Date: 2007-07-05 04:52 am (UTC)The VERY first time I watched FMA was sometime in early April... for some reason the 4th sticks in my head but I think that's because it's my cat's brithday XD (yes, I actually kept kinda track of that).. I didn't get all the way caught up until it was in the low 30s.. I remember that much because one of the eps I got to see around the same time as everyone else did was when Greed died.. ._.;
God I miss those days ;___;

Date: 2007-07-05 08:40 pm (UTC)Honestly, I didn't really like it when FMA got into it's 40s ._.. Asside from the overall fact there was fresh content everyweek(well, ALMOST everyweek x_x), and EVERYBODY had thier own crackpot theory of how they thought the series would end.... But still, it just... didn't feel the same anymore D: (still doesn't >.>;; )
'den the movie tormented everyone for a year, taunted them even more when it finally came it to theaters anhd only the lucky Japanese got to see it, then at last everbody's prayer was answered by a camrip...... and then cried themselves to sleep for what Bones had done -.-;
Then the OVAs appeared as a peace offering but only made us hate them more D

Date: 2007-07-05 08:55 pm (UTC)So much of the end of FMA and the movie were FAIL because bones totally abandonned the set up Arakawa established. Brothers together against the odds. Not Ed running off being an anti-social jerk and treating his brother--who's the way he is in great part BECAUSE of Ed--like he's too fragile to share in what he's learned.
Sure, Al sounds all completely naive and fragile, but DUDE, he's lived the same life as Ed and is stuck as a suit of armor. I don't think his life can get much worse--until the one rock solid thing in his life starts listening to the hormonal urge to be mister dominant male who can do everything on his own. (THe only hormaonal thing he didn't find was his libido, but that's what fanfics are about. XD)
Yeah... Bones was all WTF with the end of FMA and the Movie. At least they gave us crack in the chibi OVA to laugh at.
And then we run to Arakawa again as a savior to the WTF blah of Bones.

Date: 2007-07-06 04:33 am (UTC)But yeah.. really, there was only 3 really cool things about the movie: Al, Al actually able to kick some serious ass, and Wrath not being a whiny bitch anymore.. Unfortunately all of that only totals to maybe 15 minutes of the movie >.>. The rest I could really not give a damn because it either neutered some really good characters, or made a TON of them pretty much unexistant or important ._.;
The second hatred I have to the movie is just the overall theme.. FMA is NOT supposed to be a stereotypic "save the world" series, it never was meant to be. There never was an actual true evil anywhere (just people with minds more fucked up than others). It just can't work that way, and it shouldn't. Doing that pretty much kills everything else good that series had going D:
The one thing that really makes me hopeful, which I EFFING SWEAR THERE WAS A MAGAZINE SCAN OF IT YEARS AGO... of somewhere a making of another anime series for it. Which if it actually IS true (Even though didn't Bones mention they aren't making anymore? D: ), I really think it might turn out to be really cool. If it either 1: Gives a plothole for Ed and Al to go back home... Or 2: There's some Xing action (because, China is literally right next door XD)
But yeah.. there's still always the manga.. But Arakawa is gonna end it soon D: (though with how things are going right now, I have no idea how she's gonna do it XD). Then there will be no more ;________;

Date: 2007-07-06 12:17 pm (UTC)I'd love a manga influence series, bit it a short 'filler' style OVA/Movie, or a full fledged series. It'd be totally awesome.
And FMA is totally not a 'Sacrifice ourselves to save teh world' series. Ed has a huge heart, but he admits they have selfish streak time and time again. They started this adventure because of it after all. Sure, they're not going to ruin others lives while fixing theirs if they can help it, but that's not the same as purposefully trying to save the world. They just aren't that altruistic. If they don't have a personal tie to someone, they don't intentionally try to get involved (unless they're on a lead of course).
Al kicked ass in the movie and then got whining woe is me on us. ;_; And then he kicked ass again. But would it have killed Ed to stop going angst angst the world is being destroyed and it's all our fault and give his brother a frickin hug? Being rescued by piggybacking a suspiciouslly familiar soul haunted armor doesn't count as a proper reunion. T_T
We are both so preaching to the choir. XD

I dunno about a movie.. OVA maybe. But I've always noticed that a lot of things get left out in small series things like that (even if the story already IS short... *coughcoughDisgaea* >.>;;; ). But actually I would even be happy if there's maybe another movie after Shamballa... Or a movie that branches into another series? XD;.. The only sucky part is if there was any kind of true continuation to the anime is that there's really not a lot left to do... with all the homunculus gone and all D:
In the end though, I don't think we're going to see anything else happen probably until the manga finishes (which will most likely take another year until that happens, but still D: )... It really is kind of depressing though, because FMA is dying out pretty fast. Popularity wise anyway. The only really "good" thing about it is most of the AS watchers are gone (instead they're now raping Bleach ;___; )
But YUS! D: I demand a more... "Elricesty" scene. For cryin' out loud... Also it seemed like it was only really Al that cared. Surprised sure, but I didn't really see Ed jumping for joy quite as much 9_9;;.
I don't know though.. I kind of see Al having a little more rights to angst.. Considering everything that's happened to the poor guy (true it's pretty much the same stuff Ed exprienced through too... But frankly, I think getting half of your senses cutted off is a little more shittier than just having a metal arm and leg for the rest of your life). Plus I would feel pretty awful too if I supposibly unleashed impending doom on a ton of people too x_x
Not mention having somebody getting stabbed inside of you and starting to bleed all over the place has got to leave some traumatic effects...... and almost exploding by a disturbed pyromaniac.... and being turned into a thing that carries thousands of dead souls..... and memory loss that's gotta make you feel totally out of place.
But yus, Ed and Al are self-sacrificing.... but definitely not that self-sacrificing XD. Especially if it's with someone they don't know (well, more so Ed than Al anyway). Unless it's like... literally right there in front of them or something.
