Aug. 12th, 2006 12:42 pmSo, I finished the Disgaea anime last night..
What the hell? They went with the 'normal' ending(in which Laharl dies and comes back as a prinny, Etna takes over, and Flonne is revived)? That just seemed.... kinda weird. Considering the 'good' ending appears to be what really happened. Unless somebody else cares to explain why Laharl is alive in the other games and Flonne's always in fallenangel!form.. Then again they always count as hiddens, and hiddens don't always have to follow what actually happened.
But it just seemed strange.. Plus they totally skipped the clue to who Vyers really was, I was kinda pissed prinny!Kurtis didn't exist(hell it seemed like they made him more of an assmunch than he really was), and I still didn't like the idea of prissy!Maderas x_X;..
Overall, I dunno if I really liked the anime version too much. Since I was really looking forward to more depth than they letted on. Which was also one of the problems the game had, was that it was too short, and too flat(and yet actually there was a decent amount of story in there considering, but it was all like 'behind the scenes' kind of stuff)
oh well I guess...

rather than trying to be extra comical relief and getting blown up in some way in every appearance(I use that same comparsion too XD). And considering the length of the series, most of the fillers weren't even worth it. Could totally live without the 'sister' ep, the personality switching one was bizarre as hell but wasn't really needed, etc.... Kinda amazed that Sardia(or whatever her name was) got some screentime though XD

Mid-Boss' role wasn't completely skipped over, unless you count that little bit in Episode 11 when Laharl's mother left, and at the end when it looked like he was going to stop Laharl from sacrificing himself. I kind of wonder if the series would be like if I hadn't played the game before and didn't know all this.

Date: 2006-09-02 05:13 am (UTC)Yeah I gotta agree.. I would probably be doing a "wtf?" if I saw the anime before I ever played Disgaea. Which isn't exactly anything new really. This ain't the first time that an anime changes what "really" happened(I was still heavy disappointed with that Twlight Venom series for Wild Arms. Gave those games no justice at all). But I was wishing they would do a better job with it. Nothing else if they really wanted to do the things they did the anime maybe should have been longer(hell it would have been awesome if they went all out and made it the classic 26-length =D)
Yeah, they definitely did hinted slightly to who Mid-boss was. But really since it's a just a small clue I'm sure anyone seeing Disgaea for the first time would totally miss it(even more so since they completely cutted out the discussions between him and Lamington). Heck I was quite surprised when I found out about that XD
... The anime never explained who poisoned Laharl either, didn't it? I can't remember now. Also it would have been interesting if they putted in some of the stuff that was found in Etna's diary too I think =/
Still kinda strange just how short the Disgaea really was, yet there really was quite a bit going on. Just that most of it was either mildly hinted, a secret afterthought spoiler, or just lightly mentioned o_O
